The Jury‘s Statement

Public transportation faces the challenge of combining increasing passenger numbers with comfort, efficiency, and sustainability. The ET 1420 sets new standards for urban rail transport: continuous, two-hundred-meter-long vehicles significantly improve passenger flow and increase capacity. Flexible, barrier-free interiors create space for different user groups, while adaptive lighting and real-time information enhance orientation and comfort. Smart control systems and predictive maintenance optimize operations and reduce resource consumption. Sustainable materials and energy-saving technologies noticeably reduce environmental impact. This holistic concept combines user-friendliness, efficiency, and ecological responsibility, playing a decisive role in shaping the future of mobility in the Munich metropolitan region.
