The innovative ROTHO ProCarbonCure plant enables CO₂-negative curing of building materials on an industrial scale for the first time. To achieve this, concrete blocks or products made from steel slag are thermally dehumidified in process chambers and exposed to CO₂. The gas-tight chambers are completely flooded with CO₂, which is gradually absorbed by the products. Efficient process technology ensures high energy efficiency, so that CO₂ is stored sustainably in the building material.

The construction industry faces the challenge of significantly reducing its considerable CO₂ emissions in order to effectively combat climate change. ROTHO ProCarbonCure offers a groundbreaking solution to this problem by enabling CO₂-negative curing of building materials on an industrial scale. Through the innovative use of process chambers in which CO₂ is specifically incorporated into concrete blocks and steel slag, the greenhouse gas is stored sustainably directly in the material. This process combines high energy efficiency with safe and controlled handling of CO₂ and can be seamlessly integrated into existing manufacturing processes. ROTHO ProCarbonCure thus makes a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of one of the most emission-intensive industries and impressively demonstrates how technological innovations can combine ecological responsibility and industrial practice.
