Details

RENS – Resilient Energy Node Stachusried is a municipal infrastructure project ensuring the power supply of critical and civil infrastructure. For the first time, a prioritized DC-coupled energy resilience architecture is implemented in a real municipality. The system operates economically and grid-supportive under normal conditions and automatically switches to stable island operation with black-start capability during grid outages. The innovation lies in the system architecture rather than the battery. RENS is based on long-term practical experience and designed as a scalable blueprint for municipalities.

The Jury‘s Statement

RENS provides an innovative, forward-looking solution that combines technical innovation with economic viability and social responsibility. The municipal energy resilience system enables seamless transition to a stable island operation, ensuring continuous energy supply. Its modular and scalable architecture serves as a transferable blueprint for communities, effectively supporting the energy transition. Easy operation, proactive crisis preparedness and sustainable system design make RENS a relevant, market-ready component for industrial transformation, sustainably enhancing the resilience of municipal energy supply.
