BMW Parking Place Assistant und ParkNow In-Car Payments
Description By integrating the three services of Parking Place Assistant, On-Street Parking Information and ParkNow into a car’s navigation system, drivers can find free parking spaces faster and then pay to park with one click. The Parking Place Assistant recommends the best car park near the driver’s destination or, alternatively, calculates the route with the highest probability of finding free parking on the roadside. On-Street Parking Information indicates the (side)streets where free parking spaces are available with coloured markings. Recently freed-up spots are highlighted with a P-symbol. Lastly, ParkNow allows parking fees to be paid via a pop-up in the navigation system. Time and cost can be monitored via the mobile app. When leaving the car park, the vehicle automatically stops the parking transaction and the user only pays for the time incurred. ParkNow works on the roadside and in parking garages, some which allow reservations to be made as well. Jury statement Around 30 % of car traffic in towns and cities is due to drivers searching for parking spaces. With this digital parking service, the driver is directed to the nearest car park or to available parking spaces at the side of the road as quickly as possible. Since the system also takes care of payment, users no longer need worry about the tedious walk to the pay station, and the ParkNow system’s precise calculations mean you only pay for the time you have actually accrued. An intelligent, thoughtfully designed and intuitively usable feature that not only makes parking easy and convenient in towns and cities but also helps to reduce traffic.
