Das Flottweg XELLETOR-System
Description
Clean drinking water is one of mankind’s most basic needs. The efficient treatment of waste water and contaminated liquids is therefore an important task. Flottweg engineers have been working for over 60 years to develop optimum solutions for mechanical separation technology. Last year Flottweg presented a real breakthrough: a revolution in the treatment of sewage sludge. The new Xelletor screw design enables an even more efficient mechanical separation process thanks to its open grid construction. The new Flottweg XELLETOR system sets new technical standards for industrial centrifuges. The heart of the machine, the combination of centrifuge rotor and screw, has a unique design. Compared to the previous high-performance machines, additional savings of 8-10 % in sludge quantity can be achieved.
Jury statement
Dewatering of sewage sludge has long been a standard operation at wastewater treatment plants. Since the sludge generally has to be transported away, it is in the operators’ interest to separate as much water as possible from the sludge in order to save weight and thus reduce costs. The disposal of sewage sludge alone accounts for up to 80 % of operating costs. With the innovative Flottweg XELLETOR system, a specially constructed high-performance centrifuge, additional savings of up to 10 % can be achieved in sludge volumes and energy consumption simultaneously reduced by up to 34 %. This kind of increased efficiency in the mechanical separation process, with considerably lower consumption, has redefined benchmarks in the area of industrial centrifuges and thus convinced the jury.
