Description
The revolution is in the surface. After seven years of research and development into alternative binding agents, fading colours and efflorescence on concrete blocks are a thing of the past. This is not only pleasing to the eye, but also to the environment. Doing away with cement in the facing layer significantly improves the raw material-related carbon footprint by approx. 15% per square meter and thus turns every paving stone into a »green« stone. Besides, they are easy to clean. We save valuable primary raw materials by using recycled aggregates. The production process is patent pending. The next planning target is the reduction of cement in the core concrete to enable EcoTerra to do without cement entirely. EcoTerra – a material of the future.
Jury statement
Cement is a CO2-intensive building material. The proportion of it in the innovative EcoTerra concrete stone has been greatly reduced. In addition, apart from the improved ecological balance sheet, it was possible to eliminate previous problems such as fading colours and lime efflorescence on surfaces through the use of alternative binders, which is another advantage of EcoTerra. A highly promising concrete stone alternative that constitutes a decisive first step towards completely cement-free stones.
