Kältemittel WT69 / R469A
Description
Environmental simulation chambers are used to test products and quality. Some tests require temperatures below -40 °C. The refrigerant R23 is currently used for these tests. It has a high global-warming potential, 14,800 times worse than CO2. From January 2020, it can only be used in the EU with an F-gas regulation exemption certificate. Weiss Umwelttechnik has developed an alternative to R23, which has over 90% less greenhouse effect. The refrigerant WT69 (R469A) has a GWP value of 1,357. In 150,000 hours of testing in 30 chambers we proved that WT69 (R469A) works in the ultra-low-temperature range down to -70 °C as well as at +180 °C. It can therefore replace R23.
Jury statement
With its revolutionary refrigerant WT69, Weiss Umwelttechnik has developed an appropriate and above all environmentally friendly replacement for the previous, extremely climate-damaging refrigerant R23, therefore making an important contribution to environmental and climate protection. WT69 is far below the EU’s GWP (Global Warming Potential) norm and is also non-combustible. It is worth noting that Weiss Umwelttechnik is not a chemical giant, but instead a medium-sized machine builder, which makes the development performance for such an agent even more impressive.
