Rovolution
Description
TGW Logistics Group has developed a revolutionary system for fully automatic split case picking using a robot. Rovolution is intelligent, self-learning and extremely flexible, as it is based on findings from cognitive robotics, machine learning and image recognition. Unexpected events are corrected for autonomously and without human intervention, which allows for uninterrupted operation around the clock. Rovolution uses autonomous processes to correct for unexpected events, making manual intervention unnecessary. The material flow is never interrupted; the completeness of the customer’s order and correct inventory are a top priority. Rovolution can handle a huge variety of item types. Both rigid and soft packaging can be gripped accurately, whether they be t-shirts in a polybag, a box of toys or canned food.
Jury statement
Until now, industrial robots for the picking of individual items have been used in intralogistics for assembling pallets holding one product only. With the growing e-commerce market, however, new challenges are arising. With Rovolution, a self-learning, fully automated order-picking robot, the developers have succeeded in creating an intelligent system that can independently react to unexpected events, such as falling goods. Rovolution can work seamlessly virtually 24 hours a day without any employees having to intervene. A remarkable industrial robot that is not only intelligent but can also be deployed flexibly and thus has what it takes to revolutionise industrial logistics.
