Skypax
Description
Skypax is Diehl’s answer to modern flight needs, to changing business models and to future passenger requirements. Because we care about those with reduced mobility or who have to use a wheelchair, Skypax is fully PRM-capable. Because we care about our environment, Skypax is extremely light and thus reduces kerosene burn and CO2 production. And because we care about airlines, Skypax enables up to twelve additional seats and is affordable, ensuring that Skypax not only looks good on paper, but also delivers a tangible incentive for integration! In addition, Skypax is built to last: it is robust and suffers from none of today’s complexities. Take direct view, for instance. Current products use complex and expensive solutions to integrate cabin attendant seats, but Skypax uses Lufthansa Technik’s camera-based system. Light. Robust. Affordable. Skypax.
Jury statement
The Skypax combination module comprises not only a kitchen but also two toilet units that can be quickly and easily made into one larger toilet thanks to a foldaway dividing door. The larger toilet is then suitable for use as a disabled facility, right down to the fine details. The fact that the compact module nevertheless adds less weight to the chassis overall than competitors’ products and yet remains no less robust, comfortable and easy to clean makes it a real innovation. A clever, consistently thought-through aircraft module that makes flights comfortable for wheelchair users too, and which nevertheless saves on CO2 thanks to its significantly lower weight.
